ARTS/MUSIC/PRODUCTION

Performer/Composer, (1998-present)
Involved in multiple bands and musical entities. I am currently the singer, guitar player, and composer of a melodic rock ensemble, Our Lady of Bells.  We currently play shows in multiple cities and venues, produce and distribute CDs, and are largely dedicated to sustaining musical development. I am also working on a full length solo composition project.

Record, edit, mix and master audio recordings in small home recording studio for local musicians and sound producers.  Currently working on Our Lady of Bells full length CD project.

Composed, produced, recorded, and edited sound and music for Alexis Arcaro's video, Before the Stoneage.

Founder of a small independent web based design firm specializing in web sites, audio projects, online resumes, and print graphics for small non-profits and independent contractors. 


WORK EXPERIENCE

Media Assistant, ACT UP Oral History Project, New York, NY
Help with writing grants, transcribed interviews, and assist general operations of the project.  Work with the director in determining programming. 

Media Director/ Youth Advocate/ Grant Writer, Q.u.E.S.T, Springfield, MA (current)
Created web site (www.outnowyouth.org). Implemented audio documentary program through which the youth learn how to create and edit their own stories. Developed workshop material.
Q.u.E..S.T. is Queer Empowerment thru Solidarity and Truth. It is part the larger Springfield, MA, queer youth group, Out Now. Q.u.E..S.T. works at exploring the intersections between the plight of queer youth and the Prison Idustrial Complex.

Web/Graphic designer/ Research Assistant, The Fund for Women Artists, Northampton, MA (2006)

Created web layout and design. Designed printed media and logo. Researched funding resources and created spreadsheets of information. Assisted in maintaining WomenArts Profile database.

Teacher,  Ware Middle School/High School, Ware, MA (Fall 2005)
Developed two after school programs, “The Sound” and “New Media Art”
 “The Sound” is an after school program dedicated to assisting students in their pursuit of creative music expression.  This includes assistance with playing their chosen instruments, song writing, performance, and audio recording.
“New Media Art” is an after school program for students who want to learn more about contemporary art practices that employ a variety of mediums and technologies.  This is both a place for students to work on their own art and to appreciate the work of professional artists.

 

Intern, National Priorities Project, Northampton, MA (2002-04)
Researched for database. Created PowerPoint presentations and graphic design logos/images used by executive director at national conferences aimed to empower communities to advocate for larger budgets for social service programs. 
NPP is a non-profit dedicated educate the community about Government spending.


Intern, Berwick Research Institute, Roxbury MA, (Summer 2003)
Worked for a non-profit lab for artists, musicians, performers and curators, which facilitates artistic endeavors outside a commercial economy. I generally assisted in the preparation of shows, and sound management. 

Camp Director,
YMCA Downtown Pittsburgh, PA (Summer 2003)
Supervised Counselor Training.  Designed educational and recreational program for potential counselors.  Trained youth staff for work with at risk youth.

Elected leader of both high school chapter, and Smith College Amnesty International.  Delegated responsibilities to student members, was main organizer for events and promotional activities.

Facilitated volunteer projects.  Designed short-term volunteer projects for Smith faculty, staff, and students.  Compiled volunteer listings and projects in a comprehensive Excel database and resource manual.  Projects included work with homeless families and families in crisis.
